We qualify every supplier on a number of key areas:

How can I be sure that the quality will be good?

We recommend the following three steps:
1) First Article (F.A.) Approval: Supplier F.A. and performs detailed verification . Parts and documentation ship to customer for customer verification. Manufacturing does not begin until both parties agree. Customer typically holds 50% of any NRE payments until agreement is achieved.
2) Certifications: Supplier includes Certs as appropriate, with every shipment.
3) Inspection: Supplier delivers evidence of inspection results before shipment is released by customer.

What are typical payment terms?

Tooling and other NRE's are typically 50% payment with placement of Purchase Order and 50% balance upon acceptance of First Article (F.A.).
Product Terms are typically Telegraphic Transfer (TT) upon delivery to the Freight Forwarder at the Port of Origin.
Some suppliers will consider other terms after several successful business transactions have been completed.
All price quotes are provided in U.S Dollars and all paymetns are made in U.S Dollars.

Who makes the freight arrangements?

Suppliers mostly quote "FOB Port" in country of origin. Traditionally, customers use a Freight Forwarder to manage all steps from origin to the customers dock. QUALDEVAL is familar with many variations of this model tailored to suit each individual customers needs.
QUALDEVAL International will facilitate any part of this process that the customer chooses including providing freight estimates and managing the freight forwarder.

Is Airfreight or Sea Freight the best?

Airfreight typically takes less than one week, door to door, from Asia to the U.S and can be as fast as 1 to 2 days. Ocean Freight typically takes four (4) weeks door to door including approximately 2 weeks on the ocean.
Airfreight may actually be cheaper for small, lightweight parts. Larger, heavier parts and high volume deliveries will almost always be less expensive by ocean. If timing is an issue it can be helpful to ship a partial by air and the balnce by sea.

What if JIT delivery service is required?

No problem, there are several excellent service providers available who can provide a JIT storage/delivery service between the port of entry and the customer's dock.

Where are your Suppliers located?

The majority of our U.S suppliers are on the  West Coast. Most of our International suppliers are located in the South of China PRC, close to the border with Hong Kong and in the Philippines within an easy drive of Manila.

Do your clients ever vist your suppliers?

We are delighted when our clients and suppliers get together. We strongly encourage all of our clients to visit any of our manufacturers and visa versa. Our personnel in China, the Philippines, and the U.S will be very happy to help schedule meetings, provide introductions and ensure that local transportation is arranged.

What travel documents are required?

The Philippines requires a current U.S passport. China requires a current U.S passport plus a valid Visa from the Chinese Embassy. QUALDEVAL International can help with the Visa process. Is it safe to travel to South China or the Philippines?

Yes, we travel there frequently. As with any travel there are a few basic common sense rules to follow. Just like any major urban area in any part of the world (including the U.S) ther are areas that are much more desirable than others. Based upon our experience we can help you with any phase of your travel planning including flights, hotels, local transportation and local customs. We prefer to join our clients on their first trip if possible and will certainly arrange for our local QUALDEVAL person to be a part of your sucessful trip.
